SIMPLE RIVER BIRCH CANDLE HOLDER/BUD VASE
Description
What is listed here can be used for a couple of things. It is a candle holder made to hold the standard ¾” taper candle. Additionally, it can be a bud vase, sometimes called a twig vase. It is drilled over 3” deep but tapered at the opening to fit the candle.
This unique candle holder/vase is made from a River Birch tree. This species is native to North America and is known for its peeling bark that sometimes resembles leather. Many of my pieces made of this wood, I will leave the bark in place. Others, like this one, I let the beautiful white wood speak for itself. This piece was cut from my yard here in Laurel, MS.
This short vase is 5” tall and 2-3/4” diameter.
This vase, like most of my pieces, is sanded to a smooth (320 grit) finish then sealed with a clear wood sealer, sanded again with an even smoother finish (400 grit). A hand rubbed, high gloss wax finish is then applied and buffed to a gloss that is smooth to the touch and smooth to the eye.
You can display it with a candle or with your favorite dried or artificial flowers, twigs or greenery. (Not recommended for fresh flowers that require water.)
