Meet the Founder: How a Late-Night Deep Dive into Dropshipping Led to Main Street Collective
Share
It all began with a late-night deep dive on Reddit, looking into dropshipping strategies. What I found wasn’t just disappointing—it was downright deceitful.
The advice wasn’t about building quality businesses. Instead, it was about how to trick customers into thinking overseas-manufactured goods were made in the USA. They were faking authenticity, while real American small businesses—ones making their own products with passion and skill—were being drowned out.
Suddenly, I understood why some of my online orders never arrived or why that "luxury handcrafted" item I bought turned out to be something a dollar store would reject.
The Problem with Traditional E-Commerce
Big e-commerce platforms aren’t designed for small businesses to thrive.
🚨 Oversaturated Market – Dropshippers flood these sites with cheap, mass-produced goods, often undercutting real businesses that make high-quality products.
🚨 High Commission Fees – Platforms take 30-40% of each sale, plus you’re expected to pay for ads just to get seen.
🚨 No Community – You’re competing against everyone, including massive retailers with unlimited budgets.
It’s nearly impossible for small businesses to win. That’s why I decided to create something different.
Instead of dropshipping random junk, what if we created a place where customers could actually trust what they were buying? A marketplace where real businesses, real makers, and real products could thrive—without getting buried under fake “handmade” listings from overseas.
A place where only Mississippi-based businesses could sell, showcasing what our state has to offer. A true collective of small businesses, working together to bring their products to more people without competing with big-box retailers or fighting algorithms on massive e-commerce sites.
And just like that, Main Street Collective was born.
The Vision: A Marketplace That Works for Mississippi Businesses
I wanted to build a place where real businesses get the attention they deserve.

🌟 A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships – When shoppers visit Main Street Collective, they don’t just find one store—they discover a whole community of Mississippi makers, artisans, and entrepreneurs.
🌟 No Risk, No Hassle – Just a better way to do business. We set up your storefront, optimize your listings for search engines, handle shipping labels, and even take care of sales tax—so you can focus on what you do best. There are no up front costs, just 20% commission on sales.
